Old or failing coatings absorb laser energy and flake away, letting you strip paint and primer without the mess of chemical strippers or the surface damage of aggressive grinding. Because the process is selective, you can even take off a top coat and leave the primer — or go right back to bare metal.

Why laser beats the alternatives here

Chemical strippers are slow, hazardous and need neutralising and disposal. Sanding and grinding create clouds of dust, consume discs, and can warp thin sheet metal or score soft alloys. The GM Mini removes coatings with focused light — controlled, repeatable, and gentle on the substrate.

How the GM Mini handles it

Tune the power and scan settings to the coating: a lighter setting for a single layer, a stronger pass for thick or layered paint. The long focal length reaches into curves and recesses a sanding block never will, and the Air Assist system clears ablated particles out of the beam path for a cleaner result and longer-lasting optics.

Typical jobs

  • Alloy wheel refurbishment (coatings and oxidation, without scoring the alloy)
  • Panel and part stripping before refinishing
  • Removing failed powder coating for re-coating
  • Prepping surfaces for bonding, painting or inspection
