Rust is the classic laser cleaning job — and the one the GM Mini 1500W does best. Corrosion absorbs the laser energy and lifts off as fine particles, while the clean steel beneath reflects most of the beam and stays intact. You get bare, sound metal without the gouging, thinning or embedded grit that sanding and blasting leave behind.

Why laser beats the alternatives here

A wire wheel or flap disc removes rust and metal together, and rounds off edges. Sandblasting is fast but abrasive, fills the workspace with contaminated grit, and struggles on thin or detailed parts. Acid converters are messy, slow and hazardous to store and dispose of. Laser cleaning removes only the corrosion — repeatably, and on parts where preserving the remaining metal thickness matters.

How the GM Mini handles it

The air-cooled, single-hand gun lets you work the part in place — a chassis rail, a gate, a machine frame — instead of dismantling it. The Double Pendulum head sweeps an even pattern for a uniform finish, and power is tuned to the job: a light pass lifts flash rust before welding, a slower pass strips decades of layered corrosion.

Typical jobs

  • Automotive chassis, floor pans and suspension parts
  • Structural steel and fabrications before painting
  • Tools, moulds and machine components
  • Restoration of iron gates, fixtures and heritage metalwork
